This is the back of the lid, covering the light bulbs. Note the missing paint in the middle of most letters, caused by the tall light bulbs and 6 volt battery.

Note that "18" is hand-written several times under the hinge. Also, there is a Waffenamt inspection stamp below the instruction label, "WaA584" with eagle and swastika.

Cleaned the top lid and glued the joints and loose part of laminate. Several crack across the grain of the laminate are visible but are only through the laminate. Note the dark rectangle in the center where the paper label was removed. All imperfections were retained.

The jagged edge of the broken laminate was slightly beveled and glued down to prevent future breakage. Almost all of the varnish was missing and the wood was extremely dry.
