To reduce the blinding glare from the missing white paint in the center of most letters, a semi-transparent plastic stencil was added. It was cut to the same size as the original letter stencil and holes were added by applying the tip of a hot soldering iron into each screw hole.

The letter shade was corrosive, as evidenced by the dark blue test strip, which turned yellowish-green after one week in a zip-lock bag with the shade.

Note the scoring on the two ramps, due to the missing metal caps used to push against these ramps. The nylon bushings will temporarily replace these caps and eliminate any further damage to the ramps.

The reflector contacts had very weak springs. This caused intermittent failures, when a specific letter pair was used. I removed each contact and spring, cleaning them thoroughly and expanding the springs slightly to restore their "springiness".
